Wi‑Fi keeps dropping

Separate a device issue from router, signal, network, and internet-service problems before resetting network settings.

Safety note

Do not share Wi‑Fi passwords, router admin passwords, verification codes, or account recovery information with unknown support contacts.

Check whether the network is the problem

See whether another device can use the same Wi‑Fi network. If every device is affected, the router or internet service may be the better place to investigate.

Refresh the connection

Turn Wi‑Fi off and on, forget and rejoin the network if you know the password, and restart the device and router where appropriate.

Compare locations and networks

Weak signal, congestion, captive portals, VPNs, or one specific router can create problems that look like a device failure.

Review software and settings

Install routine system updates, check date/time, VPN, private relay, or network-management settings, and remove only network profiles you understand.

Escalate carefully

If Wi‑Fi fails across multiple known-good networks while other devices work normally, manufacturer documentation or qualified service may be appropriate.

Before advanced recovery: back up important data where possible and use the exact manufacturer's documentation for your model. Restore or recovery procedures can erase data and vary by device.
